Concentrated
on growing the best of Ribatejo.

More than installed, we have been rooted in Ribatejo since the beginning of our activity.

More than just an operational location, the Ribatejo is an integral part of our identity, of how we manage our business and develop the region.

Local Production

With fields located near the factory, we work closely with growers throughout the entire season. The fertile soils, Mediterranean climate, and the region's agricultural tradition create unique conditions for the production of high-quality tomatoes, ideal for industrial processing.

Unique Product

By transforming the tomato into its own territory, we ensure freshness, control, and traceability from the field to the factory.
The Grown and Transformed in Ribatejo, Portugal seal reflects this commitment to origin and to the valorization of a unique natural product in Portugal.

Continuous Development

Our industrial unit is also a pillar of employment and investment in the region.
Over the years, we have strengthened our production capacity and modernized the factory, operating today with technology that meets leading industrial demands, and promoting the training and employability of increasingly qualified workers.

Commitment to Sustainability

Through the Red Regeneration program, we promote responsible tomato processing, sustainable sourcing, pollution minimization, and efficient resource management. We establish strict compliance with applicable legislation, promote waste reduction, and plan for regular audits with the goal of transparently improving environmental performance.

5 Centuries of Tomato

Introduced in Portugal more than 5 centuries ago, the tomato has become a major agricultural crop, with the processing industry taking shape in the 1930s, expanding in the Tagus Valley and later consolidating into a highly productive sector focused on exports.

Unique Natural Conditions

Located in the lower Tagus Valley, Ribatejo benefits from a Mediterranean climate with Atlantic influence, fertile alluvial soils, and an extensive network of irrigation canals supplied by the Tagus River. These conditions favor consistent production of high-quality tomatoes with optimal sugar and acidity levels, making them ideal for industrial processing. The hot, dry summers and relatively mild winters reduce disease pressure while allowing for controlled growth and ripening in open fields.

Grown and Transformed

in Ribatejo, Portugal

At Campil, we value and protect the Ribatejo tomato through our close relationships with producers, careful selection that respects nature's timing, and an industrial process focused on preserving the tomato's essential characteristics.

Because our factory is only 3 km from the fields, we ensure that the product arrives truly fresh to be processed in the best conditions and to bring out the maximum potential of each freshly harvested tomato.

The

“Cultivated and transformed in Ribatejo, Portugal”

seal celebrates

A recognized terroir

The Tagus Valley is recognized as one of the most fertile agricultural areas in Portugal. Its alluvial soils accumulate clay, silt, and organic matter, which increases the land's water retention capacity and gives the tomato pulp greater consistency.

A unique tomato profile

A result of this terroir, Ribatejo tomatoes are unique, limited, and recognized for their exceptional profile. They are distinguished by their high lycopene content – responsible for the intense red color and naturally sweet-acidic flavor – with values above the European average and highly valued by our customers.
